In the late 60's early 70's a small slingshot dragster called Stripduster was run on British dragstrips by designer and builder Harold Bull. Running a supercharged 'A' series (Mini Cooper) engine Stripduster was a regular 9 second runner. Many cars were built to this design in the 70's running various engine/gearbox combinations, it was not unusual to see 6 or 7 similar cars at one meeting. 'A' series, Ford, Lancia even Volvo engines were used and many 'famous' drivers cut their teeth in this type of car. Spirit is one of these cars. Built by Dave Miller in 1973 the car was run as Spirit until around 1980. The car was run in 1985 under the name 'Radical Ride' before being totally restored in 1990. The car now runs basically the same setup as it did in around 1979, is again Spirit and is run at nostalgia meets in the UK.

This 1933 Chevy coupe is powered by a 261 cid Chevy inline 6. This car runs a pair of 2 barrel carbs and a set of headers. This thing is FAST and sounds like an old Alison aircraft engine when he gets it wound up. Running a GMC six out to 311 cubic inch. Running a GMC six out to 311 cubic inch.

Five time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio's '39 Chevy Coupe came to life again at this year's historic races at Laguna Seca, CA. Stovebolt was commissioned to update the engine in vintage style and provide technical assistance in upgrading the drive line for improved reliability. The 235 engine has an Isky E2 cam, Edlebrock Dual Carb Intake, and Fenton Headers coupled to a Borg Warner T5 5 speed transmission and 3.90 '55 Chevy truck rear axle. The car has been seen on Speedvision coverage of vintage rallies and the historic races. David E. Davis, editor of Automobile Magazine restored the car with the promise to the Fangio family that he would campaign the car in vintage events. Juan Manuel Fangio II represented the family by driving the car at the August event. It all began as a simi restored daily driver but after a visit to Lake Gairner in central Australia everything changed! Lindsay began building the standard GM issue UTE for salt racing. The Gray Motor (basically a smaller version of the Stovebolt Chev 6) started out as a 132 C.I.D. stocker and was bored to 138 C.I.D., balanced, bigger harmonic balancer,Improved distributer and oiling system, alloy timming gears, new cam, lightened cam followers, International truck push rods, home made electric water pump, fully reworked head, triple down draught stromberg single throat carbs-tuned length of coarse! The UTE is running a stock trens. and diff. and is lowered 4", fitted with improved shocks-anti-sway bar and Michelin Radial tires. So far his best is 109.24 without braking any parts!
