Tom: I’m new to your site and Chevy rebuilds, so be kind! I’ve a ’55 Chevy 1/2 ton I’m doing a frame-up rebuild, keeping it mostly stock. One contemplated change may be to an automatic transmission: If so, what is necessary to have it be easy and clean, with a floor-shifter? You’ve probably answered this question 100′s of times, so here’s one more time! (Engine & rear end will remain stock) Thanks, Dan

Dan,
We do make an adapter to use a 700 R4 or 200 4R overdrive that will work great in your ’55 pick-up.
You will need to fabricate rear mounts off of the adapter plate to mount the rear of the engine, purchase a shifter (Locar or Gennie?) install a cooler, and shorten the driveshaft.

Hi Im not sure how to make a new post but I have a few quebstions about my truck. Im not familiar to much
about engines but want to learn about my truck and add some much needed hp. I have a 65 chevy c20 fleetside with the 292 motor and 4 speed granny trans. I was wondering what mods I can make to both to make it a better running truck. I’d like to stay with the 6 cyl but everyone i talk to says just to get a 350 motor.any help would be great.
Thanks in advance

Jegant,
An overdrive trans will help performance and highway cruising dramatically.
I would also recommend the G.M. HEI ignition, four barrel carb and dual exhaust.

Our motor mount kits only show application back to 1937.
