Would greatly appreciate any info you could send me on- have a 1953 Chevy Truck, installed a 235- 1960 engine
with a short shaft waterpump. Question- is there a molded lower radiator hose available? Thanking you

      Russell,
I do not think there is a molded hose for your application,
but you should inquire at Patrick’s Antiques (520-836-1117).

i have a 72 chevy c10 with a stock 250, a t-5 transmission, and a 3.07 rear end (getting around 15 MPG highway). Everybody i know has a SBC so there is pretty much nobody who can give me advice nobody i know has ever hopped up a straight six. I plan on getting an after market intake a small cam an HEI distributor and some headers. What setup do you think would give me the most horsepower with out losing mpg

      Mark,
I would install a G.M. HEI distributor, water heated Offy intake manifold, Edlebrock 500 CFM carb, our cast iron headers and our Marine Camshaft.

Need a new choke thermostat on my 1971 Chevy Truck 350 4bbl. Wondering whether to go back with coil choke therm or replace with electric choke. Is it an upgrade going to the electric choke? Also I have a part of the original wire harness that lays on top of the manifold and I’ve wondered if it was meant for an electric choke connection or perhaps another option my truck didn’t come with (i.e. tach)?

      Dan,
Sorry, we do not deal with V8 engine (only inline sixes).

Tom, I purchased a 700r4 transmission adaptor from you a while ago for my 37 coupe. Although my crank was a 4 bolt arrangement, I managed to adapt the six bolt flex plate, fit the box up and test it on stands.
The result was excess vibration and flex plate wobble. So it’s back to the drawing board. I intend swapping out the 216 with a 292 which will bolt straight up to the transmission.
Question 1 Do you have engine mounts to fit my 37 frame?
Question 2 How much longer is the 292 motor compared to the 216
Question 3 Do you think it will fit if I run a thermo fan and short water pump arrangement without moving my radiator? Have you had any experience with this swap?
        Cheers
        Steve

          Steve,
          1- Yes
2- About 3″ :- Both block and water pump are longer
3- NO, it will not fit without moving the radiator.

    Tom
Can you buy a new carb for a 292 six? Do they make a throttle body for a 292? I have had it with rebuild carbs.

      J.B.
Sorry, there are no new 292 one barrel carbs.
I’m not aware of a throttle body.

I have the Porters on my 66 Pickup.
    Loud as hell, but great
Problem in that the neighbors do not appreciate.

The 250 and 292 distributors are IDENTICAL in every dimension.

      You should re-examine your problem!

Hi Tom, I ordered a set of your headers for the 292 I’m putting in my ’54 sedan, trying to decide what mufflers to run when I get to that point. I’m torn between Flowmasters and Porters, two very different sounds. I understand that you are going to run Porters on your Suburban, is that what you have on your ’39 coupe also? I love that throaty rumble of the Fowmasters at idle, but don’t want to disguise that classic six cylinder when I rap it! Any opinions on the matter?
    Thanks, Charles

I like the Porters. I hope to have a recording of them on the suburban on the website before the snow flies but I’m not sure that will happen.
