Getting ready to start my first restoration. Been reading and asking and often this is mentioned as the site for the best answers and best help. Working on a ’51 two door coupe with a 216 babbet, 3 speed with torque tube. I plan to crate the engine/trans/rearend and save it for whatever. I have a ’54 donor car with 235, positive oiler, hydraulic lifters and still stock bore. I want to perk up the 235 with a rumbling cam, hydraulic lifters, hard valve seats and maybe stronger springs, bore it ou 0.030, aluminum pistons, 4bbl carb, split cast headers, and HEI ignition. I want to install something like a 200R pre-electronic transmission and rear end from maybe a ’79-’81 Trans-Am. After reading your site for two days it appears you are the one with the answers. Am I correct with the 200R transmission, I believe you make an adapter plate and supply a flex plate for the torque converter. The R200 hooked to a rear end from a ’78 to ’81 Trans-Am could fill the bill?

      Mike,
YES, the 200 4R is the best trans but it is best combined with a 3.73 ratio rear axle (1983 – 1988 S-10 4WD).

We can suppy engine exhaust and inlet manifold of your choice. Call to discuss your project.

Sorry, I’m not familiar with the S-10 frame useage.

      Mark,
      Typically a T-5 from a 1983 – 1987 S-10 (Two wheel drive) with a 2.8 L V6 (NOT 4 Cyl) would be the most common choice.
You should use a disk from the same application.
